About Me

I'm a loud, energetic, not-so-level-headed, pretty much by the book redhead. Heard a stereotype about gingers? I probably fit the mold. Loud, crass, hardheaded, type A and stubborn at times. But I'm also one of the most passionate and easy going people you'll meet, that just wants to get you to laugh. I have this immense need to have things done my way and although usually I am right (Vernon would probably disagree), I am constantly working on getting feedback from other people and their ideas. Which is where blogging comes in. I love getting ideas from other people. Whether it be arts and crafts, friendship or relationship related, fitness related...I steal from the best. So in this blog you will find a little bit of everything.

I grew up in Norfolk, VA and made the bold decision to get married at 17. We've been married 8 years now. Maybe just to spite all of those that said we were crazy and that it wouldn't work...we're both pretty hard headed. I'm a proud mommy of a little girl we like to call Carson and a new little man named Chandler. Carson keeps us in line and has us dying from laughing constantly. I'm sure her brother is going to give her a run for her money. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2010 and now work for my grandpa at a small scale company. Life isn't all rainbows, glitter and butterflies though.....

I cannot get over how young we look. Then again I was only 17 and he was 18. Sounds pretty crazy huh? Our story begins in Norfolk, VA where we both grew up two streets away from each other. Lived in the same houses pretty much our whole lives and never knew it. We always went to separate schools and grew up completely different from one another. Then one day in August of 2004 I was being set up on a blind date with someone else and it was a double date. The guy I was supposed to meet up with was late and the guy my friend was on a date with knew Vernon and his friend when they walked up. Vernon made little comments and showed his humor/cockiness and sarcastic ways within 2 minutes of meeting him. It was love at first sight. I then sorta stalked him by getting his number from someone else and had my girlfriend "pretend" to call him and then give the phone to me.

It's a pretty funny story that ended with us getting engaged in 5 months and married in less than 6 months of dating. People called us crazy, everyone told us to slow down and every time I told someone we were getting married their first response was "are you pregnant?" I could not believe the audacity of people. It used to make me mad but now I laugh about it. Half of the people that judged us got married after us and are already divorced. Not to say that i wished it on them, but maybe they should have paid more attention to their choices and less attention to mine.

Flash forward to our one year anniversary and we're sipping Sprite out of our wedding flutes, eating our cake topper and I'm 6 months pregnant with our little girl Carson. On June 9, 2006 she somewhat unwillingly (induced two weeks past my due date) entered the family.

Was it really fast? Yes. Would I change a thing? No. For us, somehow timing has always worked its way out. Vernon ended up getting deployed when Carson was about 6 months old and made it back before her first birthday. Vernon did his 6 years in the AF and we ended up moving back to VA (not our top choice).

On April 5, 2013 this little guy decided to join the party. Not sure how the family feels more complete, because I never had a feeling that we weren't complete before his arrival, but somehow it does.

So here we are, back in good old VA still trying to get "established." Not sure what the true definition of it is, when I figure it out I'll let you know.
