This post is a day late and a dollar short...but here it goes. So Monday was a horrendous day for Chandler. He comes to work with me and has a nice playpen set up. On this particular day a nap was not in the cards for him. Every time he started to doze off the phone rang. Then he dozed off again and someone showed up to drop something off. After rocking him for 15 minutes and getting him to lay down quietly, the two guys that work here came back to the shop. I felt so bad for Chandler. He was finally able to fall asleep the last ten minutes of the ride home. When we got home I laid him down in his crib so that he could take a good nap. Typically I try to be at the gym as close to 3:30 as possible (that's when the kid club opens). If I wait much longer then the gym is packed and that's just annoying. Apparently Chandler never actually went to sleep, instead he just laid in bed until 5. I was freezing when I got home, so I had made and drank an entire pot of coffee.
At this point my motivation for going to the gym was shot. If Chandler is overly fussy the girls in the kids club will come get me during my workout and we have to leave. I just knew that was going to happen. Not to mention I was going at peak time and it was going to be crowded. The possibility of puking coffee wasn't ideal either. Somehow I shoved my butt in my Under Armour capris and trekked on down to the gym.
I am so glad I got that workout in. I ended up being able to run 2 miles. I have not ran 2 miles since Vernon was deployed and Carson was about 10 months old. I have been running pretty consistently for about 3 weeks now. Yes it has taken me this long to reach 2 miles. I know plenty of people who run 2 miles easily. Guess what? I'm not that person and I don't care. I am freaking stoked about this accomplishment! This accomplishment was EXACTLY what I needed. Not only did it power me through a great shoulder workout after that run, but I was excited to go in there Tuesday to see if I could do it again. Guess what? Not only did I run 2 miles again, but I ran it just a little bit faster. Who knows, maybe I'll run a 5k this year. Entering myself into a race of ANY kind just blows my mind. I know this isn't a huge accomplishment for most people and others have struggled way more than I have to get to this level....but it's a big damn deal for me!
I plan on amping up this blog a little bit. My own domain name and a fresh new site are in the works. When thinking about what I wanted to focus on, I realized I couldn't just do one aspect. So look forward to some DIY posts, some workout posts (complete with pics and videos), some finance updates, some photography (just the practice of...I am NOT claiming to be a photographer), and more posts just about our everyday life.
