The next big thing that I knew needed to change this year was my consistency of going to the gym. I'm pretty sure I've wrote about going to the gym more consistently about 2,349,387,534 times on this blog. Well this is number 2,349,387,535. I haven't given up completely, that has to be worth something right?!?!?
I actually started going regularly back in October. Then I got strep. Then I broke out with Guttate Psoriasis. I can't even begin to describe how fun that shit is. I was covered in it everywhere except for my face thank God. It completely sucked any motivation I had to go to the gym out of me. Fast forward to December. The rash was pretty much gone except for my on my quads. I had started going to the gym again. Cue round of strep number 2.....a week before Christmas. I know what all of you Positive Patty's are saying out there..."at least you didn't get it at Christmas!" Let's just say that I did NOT have the same outlook as you. Then I broke out everywhere all over again. I decided to not let it deter me from going to the gym this time. At the end of the day I'm not there to make friends or look for a husband. So I wear a hoodie and usually I wear funky knee socks to cover it up since I don't have any pants that go to my ankles (I always wear Under Armour capris). It's crazy discouraging to be feeling better but to look in the mirror before jumping in the shower after the gym and look like a Dr. Seuss character. Seriously, anyone remember this guy:
I've heard somewhere along the grape vine that you can create a new habit if you do something for 21 days in a row. So I have been working on that. For the first 14 days I did AMAZING. In the gym 6 days on and one day off. I cleaned up my eating (diet is 80% of the battle people!) and was seeing results. Then last week the Snowpocalypse Part I happened. I don't do cold well. I ended up only going 3 days last week. I'm trying to not be too hard on myself because I know a lot of people who are trying to get to the gym 3 days a week to begin with. So this week the regular six-days-on-one-day-off plan is back in action. Guess what we're due for today? Snowpocalypse Part II. When it rains it pours y'all.
The point to this long, blabbering post is to stay focused. My word for 2014 is Focus. Whatever it is you want to accomplish, you have to stay focused....it's just not an option.
